Ok, so I have about 3 hours to myself (very rare), so I think this is the perfect time to start my blog. I don't know if anyone will actually read this, but here's my chance to reach out to someone else that maybe going through things that I'm going through or have been through. Or you can just read along for humor. For my friends that are expecting, please share your stories and for the friends that are trying, I hope my site does not become birth control!
For some of you that do not know, I am a 29 year old female from Bellevue, Washington. I found out 6 weeks ago that I am expecting my second child in June of 2008. Much to my surprise, I had just returned from San Francisco where I ran a half marathon and did not feel well. At first, I thought I was just out of whack from the minimal training I did before the marathon, but low and behold there was a reason to the nauseousness. It completely slipped my mind that I had missed my period in September, but when it didn't come in October I knew exactly what was going on. Boy, did I regret binge drinking in SF!! Oh and all through Europe and the birthday parties in between!! My doctor was really sweet, she thought we should take a quick ultrasound picture and everything seemed to appear normal. Yeah!!
The ultrasound was pretty cool, I've never had one that early on, but you could see the shape of the baby which my best friend refers to as a lentil. The baby at 9 weeks was 2.5 cm long. You can see the organs forming and the baby sort of has a tail...eeeps! That freaked me out a bit, but it was reassuring to know things were headed in the right direction. I'll try to get pics up soon.
The family is really excited. I don't think Steve truly understood how it happened at first, but I think he's up to speed now. :) When we first broke the news to Asya, she sort of had a "me me me" breakdown. She's 12 1/2 and it's all about "me" at this age and when she found out the due date was about one week before her birthday, we thought she was going to cry. After we reassured her the big 13th birthday party would go on no matter what, she was happy. She beat me to the punch of telling most people we knew. We're both hoping it's a girl to keep this home a female dominated one, but Steve's over it. teehee
Back to the night we found out, did you know they make EPT tests so easy now?? I remember when I had Asya I was so confused with the one line, two line, pink or blue line thing. Now, they just say "pregnant" or "not pregnant". I thought that was pretty nifty. Steve just thought it was gross that I had to pee on the stick.
So here we are, I'm 15 weeks pregnant now and out of my first trimester. This pregnancy is so different then my first when I was merely still a baby myself at 17 years old. With my first, I was sick almost everyday the first three months and completely nauseous all day long. The second time around, I think I've thrown up about 5 times and I feel fine except I'm a little more tired some days. With Asya I craved all the junk food like french fries, McDonald's BBQ rib sandwiches (blech!), and donuts! I still love my donuts, but my cravings haven't really picked up yet. My stomach definitely has popped out a lot faster the second time. Someone said to me that your body has a baby memory and does that automatically. People come up to me and touch my stomach and it's just insulting at this point. They're just rubbing my fat! Product alert! I love Burt's Bee's Mama Bee Belly Butter. It has cocoa butter, vitamin E and other wonderful things in it. I just rub it all over my belly and anywhere else that I feel is stretching...EVERYWHERE! I have also been living in my Uggs and Lululemon pants.
Well, that's all about my bladder can handle right now. Time to pee, did I mention you pee about every hour? I'll try to write often and most of it might be rants, but hey I'm a hormonal pregnant woman with a pre-teen daughter, a dog who craps under the xmas tree, and a husband who's sits on the couch for football Sundays for 10 hours.
XOXO
Jean
